WALHT: Use different strategies to solve word problems with a are decimal point
Michael could add up four lots of $2.85 and get $11.40. This would not be difficult. But, what if he wanted to buy 44 bottles!
2.85
2.85
2.85
2.85 +
1.44
Michael could count.
four lot of $2 = 8.00
Four lots of 80 cents = 3.20
Four lots of 5 cents = 0.20
$2.85 X 4
=$3 X 4 - 15 cents X 4
=$12-60 cents
=$11.40
Michael work out
2.85
X 3.24
$11.40
How would you solve?
